Went to the Jay Z & Justin Timberlake show yesterday! Really big Jay Z fan so I wanted to put together the perfect concert outfit! I decided to create my own classic concert T with a modern cut.
Wanted to play with the proportions of the cropped top. Went ahead and paired it with high-waisted pants. The cuts compliment eachother nicely, and leaves just enough skin for a more tasteful cropped look. Covers up the majority of the stomach for those who want to work the cropped look…without baring the entire torso!
wanted to style the outfit more basic! i absolutely love black and white. classic, modern, simple & forward. The stark contrast is always bold without trying too hard. Also wanted a more mature color way than a birghtly colored concert T that a teen might rock. I wanted the outfit to look easy and simple! I also wanted to keep to the scheme of the Magna Carta Holy Grail album logo.
Making the T Shirt was simple! I bought a plain white cropped tank from H&M for $2.95. and Iron-on transfer paper for 9.99 at Michael’s! not bad! It’s definitely funner and cheaper to customize your own tee! concert tees tend to be 20+ so this was definitely more cost effective!
Logo was merely transferred on. Before I decided to make my own shirt…I tried searching for this exact tank top with the Magna Carta Holy Grail logo. Because the album was just released I couldn’t find any decent merch. Decided it would be best to just Google the image and iron it on! worked out great!!! looks legit to me!
definitely styled the outfit with more of an urban and streetwear influence. Kept it fun because it’s a hip hop concert! sporty but still kept it very feminine.Makeup and hair with a more vintage feel so it’s in line with my personal taste.
gold looks perfect with black and white (plus I don’t wear much jewelry in any other color!) kept it simple with an oversized watch and gold chain.
chose a herringbone chain because it was different and I like the simplicity of it. Still makes a statement but it’s more understated then the typical oversized dookie rope chain you’d expect to see. the slinky flat texture is flattering, feminine, and is a nice throwback to the 90s.
Strappy black wedges are comfortable and keep the look modern. Pair nicely with the sheen of the American Apparel high waisted pants. With such a flashy statement pant, try to keep colors/textures simpler when selecting the perfect shoe!
Outfit end result turned great! I was concert ready!
Even made my sister a shirt! She wanted a modern looser flowy cut! Definitely comfortable and lady like…just like her! Made her a Justin Timberlake top since she’s a fan! bow tie and black and white color way went perfect with the “suit and tie” theme!
Such an amazing experience! JT & Jay Z were INCREDIBLE. hope this inspires your own concert-attire this summer!!
above all else: Class, First.
